Farmers Ioane and Teu Paulo from the village of Malie
Wonderful day farm touring with Ioane Paulo in the village of Malie. Lots of laughs and a few tears. Ioane remembers papa and reminds us about how much love he had for his people and what the alofa his people still carry for him.
Reunited with Papa’s creation…
On our trip to visit Ioane & …… mum asked if Ioane had heard of Lafi7. A strand of cacao bean that created by Laulu Sesole John Stanley. Ioane took us for a walk through his planation and showed us tree that looked like a large shrub. This was the Lafi7. Lafi7 was named after the plot where these plants were grown in the German plantations. Mum and I teared up.
A wonderful meeting…
Day 3: in Samoa and we are off to meet the wonderful Adi …… and Alberta from Women in Business Inc. an inspiring organisation that is dedicated to strengthening village economies in Samoa in ways that honour indigenous tradition, use traditional and modern technology, and promote fair trade.
Our meeting went so well, we left very excited about the new collaboration and interest in working with them to help strengthen village economies. Within 24hrs they had organsied us a number of site visits on Apolu and Savaii. A necessary add on to our Samoa trip to meet the farmers and for us to gain an understanding of their methods and how we can contribute modern technology while respecting tradition.
